“The Notebook” is a true love/romance novel about a young couple who fall in love during one summer. Noah and Allie are in a nursing home ederly, and Allie has altimers where she can’t remember Noah or her children. But Noah keeps trying to bring her back and make her remember by reading her the story of there love. It starts out In 1940 at a carnival at Sea Brook, South Carolina Noah Callhoun and Allie Hamilton meet. Sea Brook is Noahs hometown and he is just a small town southerner and Allie is a wealthy girl, who is only in town for the summer staying at her parents huge summer home. Noah asks her out and as she regects him a dozen times, he finally figures a way to sneak a date with her just cause he can’t shake her from his mind. Noah and Allie soon realize all they have in common together and very shortly fall in love, a deep kind of love. They were incepertable all summer long despite Allies parents dissapproval. Towards the end of the summer Allie sneaks out like usual to meet Noah and he takes her to an old huge plantation that he has been wanting to share with her. It’s a home that he has dreams of fixing up someday, and Allie incists she be involved with his plans. She tells him she wants a white house with blue shutters, a long white porch and rocking chairs so they can sit and watch the sun go down together and Noah promises her that it will happen someday. They are interupted when they figure out that the cops are searching for Allie, at three in the morning cause her parents called her in missing. When she gets home she gets in a huge fight with her parents that Noah over hears. Allies parents opinions come out and Noah over hears. Noah and Allie are soon to get in a fight due to it being the last few days of summer, they temporarily break up. Sadly Allie is forced to leave and head back to New York in the moringing without saying goodbye. Noah holds on to there relationship and sends Allie a letter everyday for a year hoping for a reply, when he got none he tried to move on with his life as Allie was moving on with hers. He enlisted in the army and fought in vietnam and despite his bestfriend came back safetly. Once he was back shortly after his father had died, he spent all his money and time into fixing up the old plantation he had promised Allie he would. Some said he went crazy, in Noahs mind fixing up that house would bring Allie bacck to him. Meanwhile Allie in New York, while nursing for hurt soilders as an intern in college meant Lon Hammond Jr. a wealthy soilder/ cotton plantation owner. Allie was surprised how quickly she fell in love with him and soon they were engaged. Until one day she see’s Noahs picture in the paper and faints, she revists Sea Brook one more time. Her and Noah meet for the first time in years and although awkward at first, they take a ride on Noahs boat out in the lake and as it pours they get into a fight. Allie finds out about Noahs letters and realizes he didn’t just give up once she had left, they fall in love all over again. She spends days with Noah until her mother and Lon come to Sea Brook and she is forced to choose. Choose between a prefect relationship, money, social standing and security with Lon or a childlike, true love, aruging and a far from perfect relationship. She has to choose between Lon or Noah, the hardest decision of her life. She chooses Noah and moves in with him and recives all the 365 letters her mother had kept from her. Back in the retirement home, Noah sneaks out of his room to go see Allie. Allie remembers Noah as he approaches her room and they lay in bed together and talk about miricals, wondering if god could possibly take them both at the same time, wondering if there love could do anything.
