1. What inspired Nicholas Sparks to write "The Guardian"? Did any of his ideas come from his real life such as his own family or even personal past?

2. Nicholas sparks novels all of them or at least a large portion have the same setting, modern time in the state of north Carolina. I wonder why he chooses the same area for the set of his novels? Does he like the summer setting for love novels or is it something more deep and personal?

3. All of Nicholas Sparks’s novels are filled with passion and the true perspectives of what women think themselves. How does he capture them so well? Does he have help writing his books or at least ideas off of others around him?

4. In a biography I had recently read said that Nicholas starting writing when he had injured his achilles tendon during his track career. He quoted that after weeks of lying around doing nothing his mother told him to pick up a pencil and do something productive, write. Did it come to him easily after that? Although he had never considered being an author before, did he realize it was what he was most passionate about and what he wanted to do with his life after that?

5. Towards the middle of the novel, when the climax is about reached it explains Richards past with his ex-wife, Jessica. While Richard is in his basement developing pictures of Julie he flashes back to where Jessica and him are having a conversation. They were on there honeymoon and went out for a couple drinks and on the way back to the hotel Jessica bumped into a man, exchanged a friendly smile and grabed his arm to keep balance. When they reached the hotel room Richard was furious and explained to Jessica that she must never do that to him again, Jessica proceeded to say that he was crazy. Then the last of the flash back was explained as Richard grabbing Jessica saying "What did you call me... what did you call me!." Folling with Jessica's cry for help and whimpering. In the book that section was never explained and she was never brought back up, did Jessica get severly hurt by Richard or murdered even?
